McDonald’s is becoming the Grinch of fast-food restaurants. And that’s not just a figure of speech; McDonald’s has teamed up with Dr. Seuss to launch a new menu. The fast-food giant has announced the arrival of the ‘anti-Christmas’ menu. On McDonald’s official website, they announce it like this: “Serve the holidays with a side of mayhem: Dr. Seuss’ Grinch food is coming to McDonald’s.”

McDonald’s has announced the menu as a unique, limited-time offer. “Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch has successfully slipped into the Golden Arches, and on December 2, he’s unleashing The Grinch Meal. The meal, created in partnership with Dr. Seuss Enterprises and McDonald’s, will be available at participating restaurants nationwide for a limited time, while supplies last.” The menu, inspired by one of the most popular Christmas movies, The Grinch, will be available at participating restaurants and includes two meal options and a pair of socks. “His diabolical culinary debut features Dill Pickle ‘Grinch Salt’ McShaker Fries, arriving for the first time in the U.S.”

The United States is popular worldwide for many things, but one of them is its ability to create spectacle or make everything magnificently enormous. Hence the buzz surrounding this menu item, which appeals to regular McDonald’s customers, but also to those who aren’t particularly fond of Christmas and see this as the perfect opportunity to do something completely opposite to Christmas. The Grinch isn’t just a character on the big screen; he’s a figure who embodies all those people who don’t identify with Christmas and who aren’t just indifferent, but who actually “hate” this Western holiday. The meal had already debuted in Canada in 2024, maintaining the exact same elements that are now being introduced to the US market.

The special menu offers two main options and a pair of socks

The Grinch menu is no different from the regular McDonald’s menu. Regardless of the dish you choose, all combos will also include McShaker Fries with pickle and “Grinch Salt” flavor, which, according to the company, will be available in the U.S. for the first time. According to McDonald’s, the special menu offers two main options: a Big Mac sandwich or 10 Chicken McNuggets. “Sprinkle the tangy, dill pickle seasoning into the McShaker bag and shake for a bold twist on our World Famous Fries® that will make your taste buds pucker with delight. Pair them with your choice of a Big Mac® or 10-piece Chicken McNuggets® and a medium drink for the ultimate treat for yourself during holiday fuss and muss,” they describe on the restaurant’s website.

Some customers who have already tried the new McDonald’s menu highlight the unique flavor of the new condiment, while others say the socks are “a collectible gem.” Regarding the socks, McDonald’s describes them as follows: The Grinch is adding a touch of mischief to every meal: a pair of animated socks, scribbled with messages from the Grinch himself so everyone knows exactly how he’s feeling this holiday season. The socks come in four quirky colors and can even be used as an impromptu Christmas stocking, just like the best ones from Mt. Crumpit.

The Grinch’s menu has every chance of being a success

In short, it’s the kind of novelty that’s especially popular these days, where anything that goes viral is a hit. We live in an era where people line up to try a cookie advertised on social media as the best in town (wherever that town may be); where movie, TV, and game merchandise sells out almost as fast as it can; and in an era of FOMO (fear of missing out). So, the Grinch’s menu has every chance of being a success.
