Well, we’ve been working hard to update one of the apps we use most in our daily lives. It’s Android Auto, the system that connects our phone to our car. It’s not just a simple patch or trivial bug fix; now the app is powered by artificial intelligence.
What is Android Auto?
Android Auto is software that extends the functions of an Android mobile phone to the car’s infotainment screen. Thanks to it, we can use the navigation app or answer calls from the car. Its main objective is to allow all these functions to be used safely and without distractions while driving. Google launched the latest version of Android 15.4 on October 26, 2025. What really matters is not the version itself, but the next-generation artificial intelligence engine that is integrated into it. Version 15.4 acts as a technological bridge between the old Google Assistant and the new Gemini-assisted driving.
Apart from this, this version fixes critical connectivity bugs that were affecting newer users.
Apparently, Google Pixel 10 phones had connectivity issues whenever they were mounted in a vehicle. In addition, Google says it needs to lay the software groundwork for the big artificial intelligence developments coming at the end of the year. Apart from this, version 15.4 of Android Auto brings some slight aesthetic changes to the interface.
For example, it brings the long-awaited Material You design, which synchronizes the Android Auto interface colors with the wallpaper you already have on your mobile phone.
To get this update, phones must have at least the Android 8.0 operating system. To receive future versions such as 15.5 and above, you will need a device with Android 9.0 or newer.
The Gemini Revolution
Google is replacing its long-standing voice assistant with its most advanced artificial intelligence model, known as Gemini. Yes, instead of having a command-based assistant, we will have an โintelligent co-pilotโ powered by artificial intelligence. Thanks to this, we expect conversations to be more natural, with fluid dialogue as if talking to a person.
In addition, Gemini’s artificial intelligence allows for advanced and contextual searches, as well as real-time message translation. Full integration is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
New features in Google Maps
Another app we use a lot in the car is Google Maps. They recently added an extension to the app that lets you report traffic incidents. It’s pretty common for a car to break down in the middle of the road or for there to be roadworks or traffic jams. This allows the passenger to report accidents, speed cameras, and roadworks with a simple button. There is nothing better than competition (in this case, the Waze app), which has prompted Google to step up its game and add additional features to its Google Maps app.
In the end, all drivers win, as they will receive real-time notifications of hazards on the road.
Returning to the topic of Android Auto, Google Girl is rolling out updates in waves through the Google Play Store. If you are patient and prefer not to complicate your life, the system will install itself, probably in mid-November 2025 for most users. If, on the other hand, you want to try out the new features today, you can install them manually (at BK). You can skip the queue by downloading Apple Cash from secure repositories and running it manually on your phone.
In this new tech age, our cars are no longer just a means of transport, but fully equipped offices where we can be fully connected to others and stay productive while we are behind the wheel. While it has its perks โknowing about incidents on the road miles away is one of themโ, one cannot help but long for those times when you could hop on the car, turn on the radio, and forget about the whole world.
